Mental wellness is living a fulfilled life mentally and emotionally. We don’t have to wait for anxiety and depression to seek mental wellness. But sadly that’s the common case today. The rationale behind the three tips that you’ve shared are spot on. Good work Jillian.

Absolutely. Talking about mental health is often reserved for discussing mental illness. I think there are a lot of people (including me) trying to change the narrative, but it is slow going.

Excellent piece Jillian! This line in particular really resonated with me: "Mental wellness goes beyond simply avoiding anxiety or depression. It’s about flourishing—feeling engaged, motivated, and fulfilled in life." So often we conflate mental health with mental illness, but they aren't the same as you so rightly point out. I love the practical strategies and takeaways you share here. Thank you!

Ever since I heard about languishing it's been so eye opening. I never had a full on burnout, but I definitely had periods of just languishing. Just going about my day. I love the focus on flourishing and how mental wellness is so much more than just "I managed to not burn out today".

Yeah this reframe to flourishing was so helpful for me. I think because it helped me feel a little more in control when life felt out of control.

Ahh, so many nuggets here for me to ponder and put into practice. "Writing is fun" is such a great reminder--it's true for me, but so is pressure I often put on myself! And mindful eating and walking should be the easiest for us to implement, and can be the most gratifying, if only we allowed it for ourselves more often. Thank you for this piece.

I think of these things as simple but not easy! It’s a practice for sure with ups and downs.
