I had planned to write a post full of links for you today.
But, when I sat down to write it, I found that I didn’t have the energy or the focus to do it. Recently, my energy has been spent traveling, going to my dad’s memorial, working in the hospital, starting a writing course, planning my garden, and trying to do the rest of life outside of work.
It hasn’t left much space for writing anything other than a draft of my book proposal.
So, instead of forcing it, I decided to call an audible and write you (me) this short reminder:
You can do anything, not everything.
And you need rest.
Even when you have a mile-long to-do list, you deserve to choose to rest in order to prevent overwhelm.
Unlike in the past, when I don’t have the capacity to write a long post these days, I don’t.
I listen to the message my brain is giving me and prioritize rest instead. This results in feeling renewed and puts me in a position to generate more work from a positive space rather than a depleted one.
You can choose the same for yourself.
These posts can help you figure out what kind of rest you need:
Today, I’m getting some sensory and creative rest.
Love this - thank you for modelling caring for self. It takes courage, and can sometimes feel like a risk!
It's ok to rest, take care ❤️
