Hey Jillian, will you come on my podcast next year? I love every word you write on here and I'd LOVE to dive deep into juicy convo with you and share it so others can enjoy the juiciness too xx
I'd also love to invite you to my podcast in 2025. I'm building toward deep, soul searching, satisfying "kitchen table style" chats that bring value and philosophical wonder to listeners.
Let’s chat about that in the new year. Feel free to send along a message! I’ll be getting as close to hibernation as possible in the first weeks of January.
We definitely like to pretend that we should be 100% on all the time. I've only recently learned as well that it's just not like that. Everything in nature has a period where things are calmer and quieter, why shouldn't we...
This has me tearing up. I had to google you and your story, Jillian. I am a nurse, not a physician. The demands of my job and feeling overworked, unheard, unseen and disposable are perfect ingredients for burn out. Add a heavy sprinkle of toxic leadership and the outcome is a mental health crisis. I'm on the precipice and your post - your work - is timely and a balm to my soul. Thank you.
I’m so glad it found you and sorry that your experience is like so many others in healthcare. Take good care of yourself and be sure to ask for help when you need it. It can be difficult to do, so this podcast episode might be of help if that’s the case for you: https://humansleading.substack.com/p/the-simple-complexity-of-asking-for?r=msmog
I hope you enjoy the book when you get it! Her former podcast, Wintering, has been rolled into a podcast named The Way We Live Now. I found the episodes really helpful while I was wintering during pregnancy/the pandemic.
Love this post. I’m in the middle of Wintering right now and it feels so spot on to burnout and ignoring the seasons that we all need. I am so guilty of ignoring and overriding my body that I’m having to make a conscious effort every day to unwind those habits.
Thank you for all these great resources! I've got a reflection and intention process up on my Substack as well. This is such a wonderful time to go inwards and consider where we've come from, how we've grown, and what we would like to call in for the new year. Happy Solstice, Jillian!
I write Journal Journeys to facilitate jouraling for people, but I need it as well. I'm doing Beth Kempton's Winter Writing Sanctuary again this year (free)...from Dec. 28- Jan 2. Looking forward to the rest and reset.

How kind! That would be lovely! It would be so fun to have a conversation with you. ❤️
Wouldn't it! Yay! Let's make some plans in the new year x

So true!
I've come to the definitive conclusion that we should be allowed a form of hibernation during the winter months. *yawn, stretch*

I have Katherine May's book on hold at my library to read! Can't wait (it'll be quite a while til it's available). I also love the Being Well podcast!

I think we all do this to some extent. I also overrode myself in a big way. So many of us have to learn the lesson the hard way!
