I almost always have to get unstuck by taking action. Action is a way for me to reconnect with clarity, intuition, and the wisdom in my body that I can never think my way out of. I can journal for months about something, but for me, action is where it really changes.

Your questions made me stop and think this morning. Now I just need to put them into action!

"The challenge I faced in coaching was merely to get out of my own way and allow my inner knowledge to guide me." I feel like this is so often the core of everything. Whenever I get stuck, the final answer is always that I already had all the knowledge and I just needed to get out of my own way. But sometimes it takes so damn long to actually realize this! It's a good reminder that we already have everything we need 🙂

We do have everything we need! And I think the struggle is just part of the process. Everyone experiences it.

I knew exactly where I was going in life (well, at least the third version of my life plan 😉). Had a plan, followed the plan, felt fully passionate, purposeful, and intentional. Then I had an injury, then covid changed society and I floundered. It is not hard to remember the angry and frustration of trying to figure out what to do next but my plans are too opaque.

These prompts you offer are well timed for the wobble that still exists. Thank you.

Oh yes... we make plans and life laughs, right? I hope this gives you a little stability during your wobble! You're definitely not alone.

Thanks for sharing such an honest and relatable story for anyone at any age feeling the need for change and just wishing someone would give them the steps to do it. We’ve got to find those steps ourselves, even if we’re not always sure where the entire staircase is leading.

So true. I've started thinking about this like the E.L. Doctorow quote about writing: "[Creating a fulfilling life] is like driving a car at night. You can only see as far as your headlights, but you can make the whole trip that way."

“Recovering from burnout had taught me that I no longer wanted to give all of myself to a workplace that would never love me back. I wanted to have some of myself left over to give to the rest of my life.” THIS! I found myself in exactly this frame of mind in 2020 but it was a few more years before I discovered coaching. Thanks for this article, it’s a great explanation of how coaching or self-reflection can help us to make changes.
