“Being an FHB (fallible human being) is not a reason to feel shame. It’s what unlocks growth and possibility.”
- Amy Edmonson
I’m currently on my way back home after attending the 15th Annual Coaching in Leadership and Healthcare Conference. Knowing very little about the conference, I signed up on a belief that, with the lineup of conference speakers, it would be a great conference.
It was even better than I had anticipated.
The theme for the conference was wisdom, something that each speaker delivered in spades.
Over the course of two days of listening and networking, a feeling kept rising up for me:
You belong here.
I haven’t always felt like I belonged. In fact, I spent a lot of my life striving to prove that I was enough in order to receive the external validation I needed to show myself that I was not a flawed imposter.
It was never enough.
It wasn’t until I started doing my own internal work and surrounded myself with people who accepted my fallible humanity that I could start to feel like I fit in somewhere.
I’m happy to find that in my workplace and in places like the coaching conference.
Which brings me to today’s reminder and this week’s podcast episode:
There’s nothing wrong with you. You’re not an imposter. You’re a human being.
And you are exactly where you need to be in your life in order to get to where you want to go next.
If you feel like an imposter, or a fraud, or worry that you’re not good enough compared to your peers, this is the episode for you.
In it, I share that up to 80% of people experience imposter thoughts at one time or another.
This is especially true for high achievers, perfectionists, and people with minoritized or underrepresented identities.
In this episode you’ll learn to:
✨Differentiate between self-doubt and imposter phenomenon
✨Assemble your own dream team
✨Use a 3-step process to self-coach your way through imposter thoughts
I hope you enjoy. If you do, I’d love it if you shared the episode with someone who could use it. You can find the whole library of episodes here or any of the major podcast platforms. And be sure to subscribe on your favorite podcast platform so you don’t miss out on upcoming guest episodes.
