The Simple Complexity of Asking For Help

Like it or not, we can't do everything ourselves.

If you've been around Humans Leading for a while, you may have noticed that I haven't put out a podcast episode in a few months.

That's because I've been taking my own advice and I've been taking a break, which has been amazing.

I love doing this podcast, but I know it's not possible for me to do everything, even though sometimes my brain tells me that it is.

So, I decided to take a break in order to come back better afterwards.

We all deserve a break.

Thanks for reading Humans Leading! Subscribe for free to receive new posts and support my work.

And we all deserve help.

But sometimes often, we aren’t good at asking for it. That was definitely the case for me when I was struggling with burnout and depression, and it was also the case for today’s podcast guest

when he was grappling with a life-changing diagnosis.

I first encountered Chris through a post he made on

’s Substack Hype Yourself. After I read his posts about barriers to asking for help and getting better at asking for help, I knew he’d be a great person to bring on the podcast.

As high achievers, most of us are not good at asking for or accepting help.

But it just isn’t possible to do everything ourselves. And we don’t need to run ourselves into the ground trying.

Far better to ask for help.

It’s something I’m still working on in my own life, and you can too with the tips Chris gives in this episode.
